Bidhannagar Cybercrime Police Department has arrested the main accused of sand smugglers gang who were cheating in website and documents. Software developer Soubhik Chatterjee was carrying out the sand smuggling incident through a fake website.
Police arrested him from Katwa on the basis of secret sources. On February 3, on the basis of the complaint of the state government, the police of Bidhannagar cyber crime department arrested the kingpin of the sand smuggling gang Hasanuzzaman Mollah from Birbhum and on the basis of his interrogation, Soubhik's name was revealed. Soubhik Chatterjee was responsible for developing the software and website used by the gang.
On the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, the police of Cybercrime station raided the Katwa area and arrested Soubhik. Police have recovered several documents including a laptop, hard disk and mobile phone from him.
The accused was produced in the Bidhannagar court on Saturday from where the court sent him to police custody. Bidhannagar Cybercrime Police is looking for other people of this gang in the case.
